The route starts from Offida<\/strong>, one of the principal village where the Rosso Piceno Superiore<\/strong> is producted.\u00a0<\/em>Its name derives from an ancient divinity,<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>Ophis<\/em><\/strong>; once Offida was an important spiritual center and still today in Offida important relics<\/strong> are conserved in many local churches..<\/em><\/p>\n

Of great interest is<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>the fortress<\/em><\/strong>: it was built by<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>Pope Innocenzo VIII<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>and it was designed by the Florentine<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>Baccio<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>Pontelli<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>during the<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>XV century<\/em><\/strong>. Nearby you can find the<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>Civil Hospital<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>made by the architect<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>Pietro Maggi<\/em><\/strong>; it presents a neoclassical facade. We are seeing the monument dedicated to the<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>Lacemakers<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>which shows the typical<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>artisan activity<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>in Offida:<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>the lace pillow<\/em><\/strong>. Strolling along the streets of the village you can find<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>shops<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>and<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>workshops<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0which show the objects realized by this ancient technique.<\/em><\/p>\n

We are visiting the\u00a0beautiful square<\/strong>\u00a0with the\u00a0Collegiate Church<\/strong>\u00a0(XVIII century<\/strong>) dedicated to\u00a0Madonna of Palio<\/strong>\u00a0linked to a miracle,\u00a0the town hall (XIII century<\/strong>), one of the most beautiful palaces in Marche Region and the\u00a0Serpente Aureo Theater<\/strong>\u00a0inaugurated in\u00a01820.<\/strong>\u00a0Of great interest is the Baroque\u00a0Church of S. Agostino<\/strong>\u00a0where the relics of the\u00a0Eucharistic miracle of Lanciano<\/strong>\u00a0are conserved.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The masterpiece of the medieval architecture is the beautiful church of S. Maria della Rocca<\/strong>, a Benedictine spiritual center. It is full of frescoes of the XV century<\/strong> realized by the Master from Offida<\/strong>. In the crypt of the church you can admire some frescoes and two chapels dedicated to S. Lucy<\/strong> and S. Katherine from Alessandria.<\/strong> In the superior church, with a unique nave, you can find traces of frescoes with the Stories of S. Benedict<\/strong> and curious inscriptions leaved by pilgrims. These inscriptions tell important historical events in Offida such as documents.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\t\t
