The route is dedicated to discover the medieval village of Monsampolo del Tronto<\/strong> and its hidden treasures:\u00a0<\/em>the Mummies<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>Museum<\/strong> and the underground routes.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The tour starts in Marconi Square<\/strong> with the visit of the Franciscan convent<\/strong> and its beautiful cloister: it is composed by an elegant well in travertine stone and a refectory with suggestive frescoes. The route continues with the visit of the\u00a0<\/em>Church of<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>Maria SS. Assunta<\/strong> dating from the XVI century with some parts in the Baroque style; next to the church there is the beautiful Crypt’s Museum<\/strong> where a lot of mummies were discovered here: the crypt was a cemetery.\u00a0 In the museum we can find many mummies and the mummies\u2019 objects, such as gowns and suits<\/strong>, the most interesting elements of the exhibition dating from the XVI and XIX centuries.\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll stroll through the medieval village of Monsampolo and we\u2019ll reach the underground routes: they were underground<\/strong> galleries<\/strong> for depositing sustenance and escapes. The underground route is about 120 meters<\/strong> and it is enriched by a permanent Nativity Scenes exhibition<\/strong>; they were realized by the local artist Luigi Girolami.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll reach the most highest point of the village. It is called Terra Vecchia\u00a0 (or Castle Square)<\/strong>: here you can see elegant buildings of the Ascolan noble families<\/strong>, Guiderocchi Palace and Malaspina Palace<\/strong>. You can see the main tower<\/strong> dating from the XIV century, the most ancient tower of the place.\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019ll stroll along the streets of the village with beautiful medieval buildings made of bricks, among them the Death Arch<\/strong> and the ancient towers.<\/em><\/p>\n
